Fiona is the Director of Music at Christian College Geelong. As well as being an administrator she also enjoys teaching Instrumental Music (woodwind) and teaching music performance in the Colleges VCE Program. Over the past twenty eight years, along with a dedicated team of music educators, Fiona has had the privilege of developing a diverse and vibrant music program at the College. As well, she enjoys working and performing in the community. Fiona has been involved in various roles with the Geelong Summer Music Camp since 1985 as a committee member, conductor, tutor, president and musical director. She has also been a member of the Geelong Concert Band. Fiona directs the College’s Senior Wind Symphony and numerous chamber ensembles. Under her musical direction, College productions and ensembles have received numerous awards and been recognized for their excellence. While completing her Masters in Education she studied Orchestral Conducting and performance pedagogy. She sees music education as a vehicle for helping young people to develop their ‘whole’ person.
Shannon is a strong advocate for community music making and lifelong learning in the arts. Since his first camp in 2012 he has been a conductor, tutor, compére, committee member and all-round handy guy in helping the camp run smoothly. Shannon graduated with the Masters of Music (Performance) from the University of Melbourne after completing the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Teaching degrees with first class honours. He has worked at the Melbourne Youth Music Camp and Border Music Camp as well as being a teacher at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Shannon is the Head of Woodwind at The Geelong College as well as being an education consultant and performer around Victoria. When not practicing his saxophone he enjoys reading stories to his two young children, particularly ones with interesting sound effects.
Michael has been involved with GSMC for many years, first as a student, tutor and then committee member. He is currently teaching at St.Joseph’s College where he is a classroom music teacher, ensemble director, accompanist and instrumental tutor on Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute and Piano.
Michael has also been involved playing in many Musical Theatre Productions for school and amateur theatre groups. In these productions he has been a member of pit orchestras on keyboard and reeds and performed the role of rehearsal pianist on many occasions.
He is also Musical Director of the Geelong Concert Band Workshop Band and has been a playing member of the Senior Band for many years. When he is not pursuing musical commitments Michael is a member of Thirteenth Beach Golf clubs where he plays off a low handicap.
