About GSMC

A Day Camp for Music Students
from 10 to 21 years*

Online registrations opening soon!

Geelong Summer Music Camp provides a day camp experience for music students from 10 to 21 years*. Our goal is to provide an immersive and fun environment for students to learn and grow their musical abilities and friendships. With experienced instructors and a diverse range of activities, we offer a unique opportunity for students to explore and be inspired by a community of like minded people.

GSMC is a long standing summer holiday activity which is run by a volunteer committee and has provided students with its unique Music Camp experience for over 42 years. For many campers it is the highlight of their group music making for the year, providing excellent ensembles and tutorage.

The program......

Our GSMC timetable is a tried and true formula, one which has been designed to provide excellent tuition, and a range of engaging activities in a friendly and supportive environment. The timetable culminates in a finale concert that is a true celebration of young people making wonderful music, having worked collaboratively and intensively for one week.

The Timetable......

Sunday - Audition Day Individual times

Students attend the rehearsal venue and register prior to their audition. Auditions generally happen between 1.30 - 4pm and are about 10 minutes long.

Monday - Thursday  8.30am until 4.00/4.30pm

At 8.30am, Campers and staff meet together in the auditorium. Monday morning is a welcome to all and introductions. Tuesday - Thursday sees the entire camps staff and students rehearsal the concert combined finale. Some groups rehearse until 4.00pm each day and others rehearse until 4.30pm.

Friday - Final Rehearsal Day and Evening Concert

Students attend Costa Hall during the day, at designated rehearsal times for their ensemble and the combined finale. The evening public concert features all of the camp ensembles on stage, in Geelong's magnificent Costa Hall.

Auditions.....and GSMC readiness....

Students are asked to prepare a piece to perform at their audition and may be asked to sight read some music. Auditions are an opportunity for students to meet a tutor and demonstrate their performance level in order to be placed in an ensemble appropriate to their skills. Students will be notified of their ensemble on Monday morning when they arrive at the venue.
